Situated within the Dartmoor National Park, set back from a beautiful, leafy stretch of the B3212 and a mile from Doccombe, these three, lodge-style properties (refs W43911, 28924), accessed via a track, are adjacent to the owners’ home. The holiday lodges lie in a lovely setting that offer a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area. There are 10 acres of beautiful, ancient woodland, complete with a stream winding its way through the land, plus an abundance of wildlife, ponds and granite boulders. A rich variety of plants and woodland flowers offer an idyllic haven for the resident wildlife. This is a brilliant area for walking, relaxing and star gazing as there is no light pollution. Nearby, a golf club and horse riding over Dartmoor are available. Being in the midst of Dartmoor, there are many superb walks, reservoirs, heather-clad tors and Dartmoor ponies. There are many places of interest for the whole family. If you are a keen walker, the Teign Valley is well known for its delightful woodland footpaths. It is an area of outstanding beauty and in the springtime, the Dunsford woods are famous for beautiful natural daffodils and a little later, a carpet of bluebells. After an action-packed day exploring Dartmoor, head into the restful open plan living and dining area, and unwind on the sofa or armchair, watching a film on the Smart TV with Freeview, enjoying the glows of the wood burner in the background. The well-equipped kitchen includes a double electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, Nespresso coffee pod machine and upright fridge/freezer. Head upstairs where there are two beautiful bedrooms. The first has a double bed, chest of drawers and hanging space either side in alcoves behind bed. Smart TV with Freeview, and beautiful vaulted beamed ceilings. The second room has a kingsize zip and link bed which can be setup with twin beds if requested. Wardrobes on landing. The family bathroom is on the same floor and is fitted with a shower cubicle, vanity unit, heated towel rail and toilet.

Guests can enjoy private use of the enclosed garden which is opposite the cottage behind the parking area. It’s a unique space set-up with an outdoor table and chairs for alfresco dining, a circular daybed on the raised decked area (3 steps up). On the level part of the garden there is a garden room with dining area and sofa and chair, bar/kitchen area and infra-red heater. Outside is a charcoal barbecue.


Brentor is just six miles from the historic Stannary market town of Tavistock, with its farmers’ market, boutique shops, supermarkets, bistros, pubs, and cafés. There is so much for all the family here, whether you are looking for an active break, walking, cycling, horse-riding, bird watching, golf, fishing, visiting historic houses and gardens, surfing/bodyboarding on the north coast or just wish to sit and relax with a good book. Dartmoor National Park, the Tamar Valley and Tavistock, the gateway to the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, are all within easy reach.

The property’s West-Devon location means that it is possible to reach both the north and south coasts of Cornwall and Devon in under an hour, and of particular interest, are the fishing village of Looe, King Arthur’s Tintagel, and the National Trust village of Boscastle. There are also plenty of local beauty spots nearby, including the Lydford Gorge, Burrator Reservoir, Dartmoor Zoo, Castle Drogo and the historic Buckland Abbey. Enjoy the 11 miles of traffic-free route The Granite Way that stretches from Okehampton to Lydford winding through some of the most stunning Dartmoor countryside and moorland. The Bing is a pretty, one-bedroom holiday home situated within the quintessential village of Poundsgate, in the heart of Dartmoor National Park. The cottage has been tastefully decorated throughout whilst retaining plenty of the original features dating back to the late 1700’s providing all the comfort for up to four guests to enjoy a relaxing holiday. The owners live next door within the other half of this Devon long house.
As you enter the property, you will head into the well-equipped stylish kitchen/dining room which has all the appliances needed to prepare a home-cooked meal. The living room is comfortably furnished with plenty of seating including a double sofa bed and a Smart TV with Freeview. Head upstairs to discover the charming double bedroom and the bathroom which is fitted with both a bathtub and a shower cubicle, offering the choice of a relaxing soak or a refreshing shower. Benefitting from on-road parking, that has access to fields where you are able to walk your furry friends!
The cottage is located nearby to the most famed and beloved beauty spots of Hay Tor, Hound Tor and Dartmeet. Whether on foot or on bike, there are endless routes straight from the doorstep, and the more adventurous may wish to tackle the rugged and dramatic Dartmoor tors. Along with the stunning Dartmoor National Park to explore, enjoy a long walk and a well-earned drink afterwards in one of the many historic pubs dotted around. Just a short drive away is Widecombe-in-the-Moor, renowned for its fair and its church known as ‘The Cathedral in the Moor’. With spectacular moorland and tors arising on all sides, with two lovely pubs, café and shops as well riding stables nearby, making it the perfect location for walkers, mountain bikers, riders, bird watchers or those that love dramatic landscapes.
There are lots of family friendly attractions in the area to keep you occupied during your holiday such as a visit to Buckfast Abbey, Pennywell Farm, the River Dart country park, the butterfly farm, and the otter sanctuary. The Southwest Coast Path and the local beaches of Teignmouth, Shaldon and Dawlish are around a 40-minute drive away. Day trips to the beaches in the South Hams, such as Blackpool Sands and Goodrington Beach, also offer a great alternative for a fun day out. There are also the cathedral cities of Exeter, Plymouth, and Torbay, all of which are within an hour’s drive and even a day trip to the North Devon Coast can be enjoyed. Pub within ¼ mile.
