At Croyde and Woolacombe, some of the best and cleanest surf beaches in the country can be found, as well as many smaller coves and bays. Barnstaple, the regional town, offers a range of shops. The Admiral’s House - five well-furnished and equipped apartments (three of which are featured here) - is stunningly located on the edge of Ilfracombe’s Heritage harbour with great harbour and beach views from all living rooms and bedrooms .The Admiral’s House is centrally located for Ilfracombe’s main attractions. There are friendly pubs and restaurants, including Damien Hirst’s The Quay (opposite side of harbour), and shops and cafes within a few minutes’ stroll. There are local boats for trips and fishing. For special experiences, the summer Lundy Island ferry runs from the harbour. Sometimes the famous Waverly Paddle Steamer offers coastal cruises. The Admiral’s House is a 5-minute walk to the Landmark Theatre. The path at the front of the house is the start of the coastal path leading to Hillsborough Nature Reserve and the coves of Reparee and Larksdown. Hele beach is a short walk, or there is paddling on the sandy beach just below the window. A great base for touring, surfing at Croyd and Woolacombe, cream teas at many gardens, National Trust properties, unspoilt Exmoor, the Victorian cliff railway at Lynton and Lynmouth and many mini theme parks within a short drive. Returning to the harbourside holiday apartment, fishing boats can be seen landing their catch, and crab and lobster can be bought for supper! Shops 100 yards.

There is an enclosed patio at the rear of the barn which is bordered by a stream and is the ideal spot for a morning coffee or a glass of your favourite tipple on a balmy summer’s evening. This is a superb house which has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard and boasts a cosy wood burner, together with many original features. The kitchen/breakfast room looks out over the grounds.

Glimsters Cottage (ref UK31014) is a lovely thatched cottage which has been sympathetically restored to uncover much of its original charm and character boasting original exposed beams, stone walls and lots of welcoming touches such as a blazing a wood burner. A spacious living room and a well-equipped kitchen/dining room have been make up the ground floor. On the first floor you will find two sumptuous bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, as well as a family bathroom.

Famed for its laid back vibe and surfing lifestyle, Devon hosts an enchanting cocktail of golden beaches, traditional villages and a rich, rolling countryside steeped in history. For walkers and birdwatchers, this really is the most suitable location as there are so many walks to enjoy from the front door. Many activities available in the area include golf, fishing, horse riding and sailing. There are also numerous National Trust properties within a short drive. Exmouth is close by and has a lovely 2-mile stretch of beach and was once home to the wives of Horatio Nelson and Lord Byron, whilst a little further afield lies the genteel town of Budleigh Salterton with its white-washed and thatched cottages which attracted visitors such as Noel Coward and PG Wodehouse. At Exeter, the South West Coastal Path Park is an ideal family day out. Exmoor National Park is also worth a visit with its rugged landscape and roaming ponies. Beach 19 miles. Located next door to the owner’s home, guests are welcome to use the large garden to walk around or to sit out and relax in. Inside, the cottage has all you would need for a comfortable stay, including a roaring wood burner in the living room for cosy nights in. The cottage is ideal for a couple or a young family. The local community run shop and pubs are both within walking distance of the cottage.

Located in the heart of North Devon, Grace Cottage is perfectly placed to get out and explore all this stunning area has to offer. The North Devon coastline has a little something for everyone from quaint old fishing villages at Bucks Mill and Clovelly, to large sandy beaches at Saunton and Westward Ho!. The quay and lighthouse at Hartland offer some stunning scenery whatever the weather. Other local attractions include the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal Factory, both near Great Torrington.

There are three golf courses close by, the nearest being Libbaton Golf Course. Salmon and trout fishing on the River Taw can be arranged locally, whilst slightly further afield both Dartmoor and Exmoor are easily accessible to enjoy a day’s exploring. There is cycling along the Tarka Trail. Nearby Barnstaple has a good range of shops, restaurants and local amenities, as well as a theatre and cinema. If you have younger ones, The Big Sheep and Milky Way Adventure Park are great places to head for. Beach 14½ miles. Shop 500 yards, pub 200 yards and restaurant 8 miles.
