This 1922 carriage couples modern design with touches of historic charm. The open plan living space has a sofa, two armchairs, a TV and a fully equipped kitchen. Both bedrooms have new furnishings with en-suite shower rooms and the light fittings in the living area are from the Orient Express.
Horsebridge Station was one of the stops on the Sprat and Winkle line after which the carriage got its name. With patio furniture for four and barbecue, enjoy the feeling that the train stopped just for you.
At the end of the station drive you’ll find the charming John O’Gaunt pub, a delightful place for a drink before or after a stroll along the famous Test Way, which follows the course of the railway line just 100 metres from the station.
There is ample parking, a play area for children in the garden, which is also suitable for a dog to run around. Table tennis is available on request. There is a resident friendly labrador, and Coco the cat.

Stepping inside through the triple bi-fold doors, the open plan studio layout works perfectly for your romantic retreat, with the extremely comfortable, raised kingsize bed enjoying the highest quality sheets for the ultimate night’s sleep. The kitchen area is well equipped and has granite worktops, an electric hob and full-sized oven, fridge with freezer compartment and a microwave, allowing you to cook a meal at any time of day and then relax on the sofa with a glass of wine or a cuppa! The shower room has been finished to the same high standard, with a large electric shower and heated towel rail for your comfort. Underfloor heating features throughout making the pod the ideal choice for a holiday at any time of year!
There is a working equestrian facility to the rear and if you can bear to tear yourself away, then you are within driving distance of many superb attractions in south Somerset. Nearby are the great attractions of the Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum, the Haynes Classical Car Collection, the enchanting Glastonbury Tor and Clarks Factory Village. There are numerous historic houses, the cathedral city of Wells and onto the delightful Cheddar Gorge and caves, while further afield is the historic spa city of Bath. There is a wealth of attractions and sights to enjoy and on your return perhaps stroll down to the local award-winning village pub, 1 mile away, to wine and dine.

If you are looking for a unique stay, look no further than this beautiful, cosy shepherd’s hut for two people. A superb detached getaway with rolling views over the Grand Union Canal and fields beyond. Gaze up at the stars whilst relaxing in the outdoor copper bath or toast some marshmallows on the firepit on the patio out the front of the shepherd’s hut. Want to get all cosy? Then this is the place for you since it has a wood burner and underfloor heating, making it the perfect stay all year round and whatever the weather. Leave the car for your entire stay and explore this pretty area by foot, with plenty of walks through fields and countryside and tow paths along the canal where you can reach some lovely country pubs serving traditional food and drink. You can even meet some of the farm animals whilst on your walks including sheep, cattle, ponies and chickens. This is a great place for nature and wildlife enthusiasts and twitchers. Also great for fishermen, where you can fish from the bottom of the field in the canal. The local boat shop that can be seen from your accommodation serves delicious ice cream! There’s also Wentworth Castle, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Cannon Hall, all can be reached in just 20 minutes meaning you really are spoilt for choice. Finally, slightly further afield a 30 minute drive will take you to the edge of the Peak District National Park and everything it has to offer, the shopping centres of both Meadowhall and White Rose, or the bright lights of the city of Sheffield in 40 minutes. Getting into the city is easy by car (including park and ride) or bus, with services running daily and if you wish to be a little more energetic why not try one of the many cycle routes into the city?
Just a short drive away is the iconic Castle Howard, home to Brideshead Revisited, Sledmere House Beningborough Hall and the picturesque market towns of Malton and Helmsley, where you can sample some great Yorkshire fayre in one of the many independent cafés and delicatessens. Elsie has been lovingly restored by her owners in 2020, to offer a wonderful holiday for families or friends, she is situated right by the West Somerset Railway line that runs from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard and also offers sea views from every room! Every detail has been considered to make your stay as perfect as possible. Head up the steps and through the door, where you will enter into the living/dining room, with comfortable sofas and dining table comfortably seating 6 people, off the living space is the very well equipped (and fabulous sized) kitchen with full cooking facilities as well as a full fridge/freezer, microwave and washer/dryer! Head down the narrow hallway to your sleeper cabins, one of which is a small double with sea and railway views plus a TV, while the other two bedrooms feature bunk beds (original but made safe for 21st century use!) both feature sea and track views, TVs and one has an XBox to keep the kids happy after a day exploring the beach or on Exmoor! At the end of the carriage is the shower room with a large shower. Outside you have a large grass area for games and relaxing, plus private parking. *Please note, the underside of the carriage is open and the working track can be accessed, please ensure that dogs are kept on a lead at all times and children are fully supervised while outside*
Blue Anchor is a wonderful seaside village, set between Minehead and Watchet, with a fabulous stretch of beach which is perfect for year round use and is also dog friendly at all times! The beautiful West Somerset Steam Railway which runs through Blue Anchor has a stop here and they offer wonderful trips as well as speciality trips with steam fairs, afternoon teas, candlelight dinners and the amazing Santa Express! Nearby, head to the medieval village of Dunster with its wonderful castle, spend a day at the arcades or shopping in Minehead, pop to Watchet and stroll around the Harbour or head inland onto Exmoor.
