In and around Broughton you will also find some of the excellent pubs, including several award winners, many offering good quality food alongside their real ales and roaring fires, you will be spoilt for choice as to where to dine out. For a family day out there is plenty to offer such as South Lakes Safari Zoo at nearby Dalton, Muncaster Castle with its owl sanctuary, Eskdale miniature railway, the Lakes Aquarium and boat trips on Coniston Water and Lake Windermere. Mealsgate, EnglandFor a holiday with a difference, Whitehall Pele Tower is a wonderfully atmospheric 14th-century Pele Tower providing a magnificent setting for a large family or group, perfectly placed for exploring the Lake District and Solway Coast. Grade I listed, the house has been owned by the same family for 150 years and has a long and fascinating history. An addition to the original building was made in the 16th century and the first restoration was made in 1861, after it was bought by the merchant and philanthropist George Moore.
Whitehall Pele Tower has all the benefits of modern living, whilst retaining its original character.
