The barn is situated in the grounds of a small farm, and is an ideal holiday base close to the mountains of Snowdonia. Tan Rallt Barn has plenty of space for eight people and can accommodate climbing and walking groups coming into the Snowdonia National Park. It’s a great location for outdoor enthusiasts being close to the Ogwen Valley and Zip World - the longest zipwire in the northern hemisphere, and just a short drive from Llanberis and Snowdon, with its famous mountain railway. You’ll find Penrhyn Castle (NT) just down the road, whilst Caernarfon, with its impressive castle, the Isle of Anglesey with 125 miles of coastline, Capel Curig and Betws-y-Coed are all close by. The GreenWood Forest Park at Y Felinheli, Yr Hwylfan (The Fun Centre) at Caernarfon and Electric Mountain at Llanberis are all well worth a visit. Shop 0.5 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles. This superb property, set in the middle of the popular town of Betws-y-Coed is spread over three floors and has a good sized garden with views across the river. With the many mountain walks and cycle tracks in the area, there is plenty to do. Along with the many shops and restaurants there are also golf courses and riding schools locally as well as kayaking and climbing. With many places of interest close by, you can visit the National Trust properties at Bodnant Gardens or the Castle of Conwy as well as Victorian Llandudno. Snowdon itself is close by where you can choose to walk up or get the train to the top from Llanberis. Shop 200 yards, pub 100 yards and restaurant 120 yards.

Ysgoldy Salem (ref UK11848) has been skilfully converted from the former village Sunday school and reading rooms to offer a luxury base from which to explore this delightful area of southern Snowdonia. Boasting a blissful hot tub, stylish interiors and lovely rural views, Ysgoldy Salem is perfect to return to after a day spent enjoying the myriad of activities on offer with the Cambrian mountains, Cader Idris and the mountains of Snowdonia all within easy reach. Originally built as an almshouse in the 19th century, this delightful, terraced, Grade II listed holiday property has been skilfully converted into a bright and welcoming cottage for three people. There is a warming multi-fuel burner in the living room, a well-fitted kitchen (no washing machine) with breakfast table, which is the hub of the cottage, two bedrooms and a shower room. Outside, you will find a table and chairs to relax with a morning coffee overlooking the shared lawned garden and the village of Ysbyty Ifan, which is largely owned by the National Trust.

There is a pub and shop in the nearby village of Pentrefoelas, whilst the pretty alpinesque village of Betws-y-Coed, just 7 miles away, offers a wide selection of eateries. Betws-y-Coed is also home to Zip World Fforest, where adrenaline junkies will love the amazing Fforest Coaster which whisks you through the trees, a miniature railway, two historic churches where you may be lucky enough to catch a local male voice choir in concert, and more outdoor equipment shops than you can shake a stick at! You can take the moorland road over to Blaenau Ffestiniog too, visiting the largest zip wire in Europe, the incredible Bounce Below or take a leisurely trip on a narrow gauge steam train on the famous Ffestiniog Railway. A fantastic range of outdoor activities, including climbing, walking, white water rafting and the area’s most exciting visitor attraction, Zip World Titan, the first four-person zip wire in Europe, along with Zip World Caverns and Bounce Below (trampolines in the slate caverns) are all within easy reach. Mountain biking is also very popular with the mountain bike trails of Antur Stiniog at Blaenau Ffestiniog and Coed y Brennin Forest near Dolgellau, along with miles of quite country lanes to explore. The Italianate village of Portmeirion and Porthmadog home of both the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland narrow gauge railways for journeys deep into the Snowdonia mountains are both close by. This lovely, semi-detached pet friendly converted barn is on the outskirts of Dyffryn Ardudwy near Barmouth. Furnished to a good standard, the accommodation provides a perfect retreat for couples wanting to explore this part of rural Snowdonia. The open plan living area is well-equipped and has plenty of storage and worktop space, together with a breakfast bar, and there is a comfortable leather sofa and flatscreen Freeview TV in the living room. The bathroom is surprisingly generous and has a powerful shower, and the bedroom is also very comfortable and features a kingsize bed. With everything on the ground floor, you’ll find it offers easy access. Outside there’s a small patio area where you can relax with a glass of wine whilst enjoying the sea views. There is also a larger garden area shared with two other cottages, also sleeping 2 (refs UK6584 and UK6586).
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Harlech and explore its impressive castle. Take leisurely walks from the door or spend a day at the nearby sandy beach at Morfa Dyffryn.
