Aberdovey is a thriving seaside fishing village with brightly painted houses which seem to cling to the shoreline, and has a history dating back hundreds of years. It offers miles of beautiful golden sandy beaches with a fantastic selection of water based activities available including sailing, fishing and windsurfing. Golfers are also well catered for with an 18-hole championship golf course located at the western end of the village, which welcomes visiting players. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the wonderful opportunities for walking and bird watching available in the surrounding area. The village itself is steeped in history and folk lore. Sygun copper mine is just down the road and is well worth a visit for all ages. The area is considered the adventure capital of Wales and there are an abundance of opportunities for climbing, hiking, walking, cycling and water sports available. You can also ride a steam train on the Welsh Highland Railway to Caernarfon and nearby Porthmadog.
